Goals and Expected Outcomes
Our programs will offer rigorous and diverse curriculum that is based on scientific inquiry and technological design. The new school is proposed to emphasize personalized learning and teamwork skills. Intensives will stress literacy in humanities, as well as, expose students to advanced mathematical, technical and scientific concepts.
One of TECC's goals and expected outcomes is to remove obstacles in students' paths to college by making information readily available as needed. Students and their parents will have accurate, timely, and appropriate information and counseling on each of the accelerated learning options available through the school. TECC will build strong partnerships and take several key steps to ensure that our students, high school and college officials, parents and our district receive clear, consistent and helpful information, thereby reducing any obstacles that might limit academic excellence and workplace readiness.
The Family Advisory Online Forum is an example of how the school will support parents and students. Each student and a parent/guardian will be assigned to an advisory group including a Certified Advisor that has meetings to discuss academic plans, challenges, college preparation, and other issues. This approach to supporting all aspects of a student life will help motivate students to perform well academically. Because students come from various backgrounds and with various levels of academic preparedness, these advisories will help ensure that students do not drop out of the system or fall behind in their classes.
Academic work will be assessed using a variety of methods including portfolios. Student work will be monitored closely.Additional support will be provided for students as needed. This one-on-one approach to guidance is another goal and expected outcome and will contribute to the school's success in retaining students and creating a culture of academic excellence.
